The two first playoff matches in Extreme Masters were played tonight. wooSai met fnatic, and mTw faced Virtus.pro. Not many thought that wooSai were able to do anything against mighty fnatic - but the Danes proved the doubters wrong. Starting the match at dust2, wooSai came best from start and showed some impressive play against one of the world's best teams. With a 16-12 victory at dust2, it seemed like wooSai was about to surprise everybody like they did against emuLate. At nuke, pzyclone experienced some problems with his computer which led to three lost rounds in a row - and even though ins crashed aswell, wooSai couldn't find the play from dust2 again. fnatic improved and began to show why they're considered one of the best teams, winning nuke with 16-8 and inferno with 16-10. In the beginning of 2008, mTw's ave stated that 2008 would be their year - but the fans of the Danish team have still to see their favourites impress. mTw lost a match that looked a lot like the one against mousesports. Virtus.pro won 16-12 at inferno and got run over at dust2 with 16-5 - but the Russians didn't get scared. The third and final map was nuke, and mTw haven't got any good statistics at that map. In this match, no statistics were proven wrong and Virtus.pro closed the match at nuke with 16-10.
It seems like mTw has some serious practice to do at inferno and nuke which yet again became their 'Arenas of Defeat'. By winning these matches, Virtus.pro and fnatic will proceed to the Extreme Masters II Finals, which will take place at CeBIT in March. |
